Modulation of Immune Responses by Nutritional Ligands of Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor

چکیده
Accumulating evidence indicates that nutrition can modulate the immune system through metabolites, either produced by host digestion or microbiota metabolism. In this review, we focus on dietary metabolites are agonists of Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR). AhR is a ligand-activated transcription factor, initially characterized for its interaction with xenobiotic pollutants. Numerous studies have shown also recognizes indoles and tryptophan catabolites originating from compounds commensal bacteria. Here, review recent work employing diet manipulation to address impact nutritional responses, both locally in intestine at distant sites. particular, examine physiological role these cell development functions (including T lymphocytes, innate-like lymphoid cells, mononuclear phagocytes) their effect inflammatory disorders.

The roles of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in immune responses.
A number of recent studies have examined the functions of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (Ahr) in the immune system. Also known as dioxin receptor, Ahr is a ligand-activated transcription factor that serves as a receptor for various environmental toxins. The functions of Ahr in T cells depend on the specific ligand bound to the receptor. For instance, binding of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin t...

TCDD and other polyhalogenated aromatic hydrocarbon ligands of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) have been classically considered as non-genotoxic compounds because they fail to be directly mutagenic in either bacteria or most in vitro assay systems. They do so in spite of having repeatedly been linked to oxidative stress and to mutagenic and carcinogenic outcomes. Oxidative stress, on the ot...
متن کاملPersistent binding of ligands to the aryl hydrocarbon receptor.
The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates many of the biological and toxic effects of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons (HAHs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and other structurally diverse ligands. While HAHs are several orders of magnitude more potent in producing AhR-dependent biochemical effects than PAHs or other AhR agonists, on...
متن کاملGinsenosides Are Novel Naturally-Occurring Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Ligands
The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor that mediates many of the biological and toxicological actions of structurally diverse chemicals. In this study, we examined the ability of a series of ginsenosides extracted from ginseng, a traditional Chinese medicine, to bind to and activate/inhibit the AHR and AHR signal transduction. Utilizing a combination of l...
متن کاملIdentification of potential aryl hydrocarbon receptor ligands by virtual screening of industrial chemicals
We have developed a virtual screening procedure to identify potential ligands to the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) among a set of industrial chemicals. AhR is a key target for dioxin-like compounds, which is related to these compounds' potential to induce cancer and a wide range of endocrine and immune system-related effects. The virtual screening procedure included an initial filtration aimi...
